Synopsis

Born in Mexico and trained at Central Saint Martins in London, Laposse has exhibited internationally and collaborated with leading galleries. He works closely with local farming communities in Mexico, particularly in the cultivation of traditional crops, ensuring his projects generate both environmental and social impact.

For Laposse, design is inseparable from ecology and identity. Each piece is a narrative about material, place and people.

  • Sustainability at the core: promoting biodiversity through design.

  • Craft and community: empowering artisans and farmers.

  • Nature as narrative: materials are not just surfaces, but living histories.

His practice highlights materials such as totomoxtle (the colorful husks of heirloom Mexican corn), sisal, and other agricultural by-products, reimagined into furniture and objects of great beauty. By reconnecting design with agriculture, Laposse proposes a model of production rooted in responsibility.
