Designer, sculptor of the everyday

Synopsis

Educated at the Design Academy Eindhoven and now based in Brussels, Tangelder has exhibited internationally and is recognized as one of the most innovative voices in collectible design. Through her practice, she questions the role of furniture in contemporary life, challenging perceptions of use and value.

For Tangelder, design is about reimagining the ordinary. By extracting fragments from architecture, industry and daily life, she reinterprets them into new forms.

  • From fragment to form: transforming everyday details into sculptural objects.

  • Material contrasts: combining raw and refined, industrial and handcrafted.

  • Between scales: furniture as architecture in miniature.

Her work employs a wide range of materials including stone, metal, wood and ceramics. Surfaces are often textured, revealing both the hand of the maker and the trace of industrial processes. The result is a language that is both minimal and expressive.

The following pieces by Linde Freya Tangelder are available exclusively through Soleille Gallery.
